At the Airport – En el Aeropuerto

The Kowalski family was travelling to Barcelona for the first time. They arrived at Warsaw Chopin Airport two hours before their flight. The airport was busy with many people rushing to different gates.
La familia Kowalski viajaba a Barcelona por primera vez. Llegaron al Aeropuerto de Varsovia Chopin dos horas antes de su vuelo. El aeropuerto estaba lleno de gente apresurándose hacia las diferentes puertas.
We need to check in first, said Marek, looking at the departure screens. Our flight is at ten fifteen. Let me find the check-in counters for the airline. Ewa carried their documents while the children held their small backpacks.

Good morning! Can I have your passports please? asked the check-in agent, a young woman with a friendly smile. Marek handed her all four passports. The family was travelling with hand luggage only, so they did not need to drop off any suitcases.

Please place your belongings in the trays and walk through the metal detector, said the officer. The family placed their bags, shoes, and electronics in the grey plastic trays. The trays moved along the belt into the X-ray machine.

Look, there is a window where we can see the planes! shouted Zosia. Large aircraft were standing on the tarmac, and small vehicles were moving around them. Some planes were taking off in the distance, rising into the clear sky.
