Raising Children – Criar hijos

Every morning at seven o'clock, Laura wakes up her two children. She opens the curtains and turns on the light in their room. The children slowly get out of bed and go to the bathroom.
Cada mañana a las siete, Laura despierta a sus dos hijos. Abre las cortinas y enciende la luz en su habitación. Los niños se levantan lentamente de la cama y van al baño.
After breakfast she helps them get dressed for school. Her son Mihai always chooses his clothes the night before. Her daughter Ana needs more time and sometimes asks for help.
Después del desayuno los ayuda a vestirse para la escuela. Su hijo Mihai siempre elige su ropa la noche anterior. Su hija Ana necesita más tiempo y a veces pide ayuda.
Laura walks the children to school which is ten minutes away. They talk about the day ahead and what lessons they have. At the school gate the children say goodbye and run inside.
Laura acompaña a los niños a la escuela que está a diez minutos. Hablan sobre el día que les espera y qué clases tienen. En la puerta de la escuela los niños se despiden y corren hacia adentro.
When the children come home, Laura asks about their day. Mihai tells her he got a good grade in maths. Ana says she played with her friends during the break.
Cuando los niños vuelven a casa, Laura les pregunta sobre su día. Mihai le dice que sacó una buena nota en matemáticas. Ana dice que jugó con sus amigas durante el recreo.
After a snack it is time for homework. Laura sits at the table with them and helps when they have questions. She does not give them the answers but guides them to find the solutions.
Después de la merienda es hora de hacer la tarea. Laura se sienta en la mesa con ellos y los ayuda cuando tienen preguntas. No les da las respuestas sino que los guía para encontrar las soluciones.
When the homework is done the children can play outside. They go to the small park near their building. Laura watches them from a bench while reading a book.
Cuando la tarea está terminada los niños pueden jugar afuera. Van al pequeño parque cerca de su edificio. Laura los vigila desde un banco mientras lee un libro.
In the evening they have dinner together as a family. They talk about funny things that happened during the day. Laura's husband shares stories from his work too.
Por la noche cenan juntos como familia. Hablan sobre cosas graciosas que pasaron durante el día. El esposo de Laura también comparte historias de su trabajo.
After dinner it is bath time for the younger child. Laura prepares warm water and brings clean pyjamas. Ana takes a bath while Mihai reads a comic book in his room.
Después de la cena es la hora del baño para la menor. Laura prepara agua tibia y trae pijamas limpias. Ana se baña mientras Mihai lee un cómic en su habitación.
At eight thirty Laura reads a bedtime story to both children. They listen carefully and ask questions about the characters. Soon their eyes become heavy with sleep.
A las ocho y media Laura lee un cuento para dormir a ambos niños. Escuchan con atención y hacen preguntas sobre los personajes. Pronto sus ojos se ponen pesados de sueño.
Laura turns off the light and closes the door quietly. She feels tired but happy. Raising children is hard work but she loves every moment of it.
Laura apaga la luz y cierra la puerta en silencio. Se siente cansada pero feliz. Criar hijos es un trabajo duro pero ama cada momento.
