Anna has been waiting three days for an appointment with her family doctor, Dr. Popescu. Finally the practice calls on Monday morning and offers her an appointment for the afternoon.
Anna lleva tres días esperando una cita con su médico de familia, la Dra. Popescu. Finalmente la consulta llama el lunes por la mañana y le ofrece una cita para la tarde.
Anna writes down the time — two thirty — and hangs up. She hopes it is nothing serious, but the constant headaches and tiredness worry her.

She puts her insurance card and medication list in her handbag. At half past one she sets off.

The practice is in a small medical centre on the edge of town, about fifteen minutes away by bus. Several patients are already sitting in the waiting room.

An older lady is flipping through a magazine, a young father is trying to keep his toddler quiet. Anna takes a seat, fills in the questionnaire about her symptoms and waits patiently.

After about twenty minutes her name is called. Dr. Popescu greets her warmly and asks her to sit down.

Anna describes her symptoms — the headaches that have been coming and going for two weeks, the general exhaustion and the slight dizziness in the morning. The doctor listens carefully, asks specific questions and takes notes on her tablet.

Then the examination begins. Dr. Popescu measures Anna's blood pressure, listens to her heart and lungs and checks the lymph nodes in her neck.

Everything seems normal. Then she looks into Anna's ears and asks her to open her mouth. Her throat is slightly red, but nothing worrying.

Finally she checks her reflexes and the mobility of her neck. Dr. Popescu concludes that it is probably a combination of stress and a mild viral infection.

She prescribes Anna a mild painkiller for the acute phases and recommends plenty of rest, regular meals and at least two litres of water a day. If the symptoms do not improve after a week, Anna should come back.

Anna feels relieved. She thanks the doctor, picks up the prescription at reception and heads home.

At the pharmacy next door she fills the prescription and also buys a pack of camomile tea. When she gets home, she lies down on the sofa first, drinks a large glass of water and switches off her phone.

She decides to really take it easy over the next few days.
