001: Greetings – Saludos

It is a beautiful morning in the city. Maria walks down the street and sees her neighbor John standing at the bus stop. She smiles and waves at him.
Es una hermosa mañana en la ciudad. María baja por la calle y ve a su vecino John parado en la parada de autobús. Le sonríe y le saluda con la mano.
John notices her and says, Good morning, Maria! How are you today? Maria walks closer and answers, I'm very well, thank you. And you?
John la nota y dice, ¡Buenos días, María! ¿Cómo estás hoy? María se acerca y responde, Estoy muy bien, gracias. ¿Y tú?
Just then, an old woman named Carmen comes out of the bakery with a fresh loaf of bread. She sees Maria and says, Buenos días! Maria smiles and replies, Good morning, Carmen!
En ese momento, una mujer mayor llamada Carmen sale de la panadería con un pan fresco. Ve a María y dice, ¡Buenos días! María sonríe y responde, ¡Buenos días, Carmen!
A young man named Carlos runs past them, almost dropping his coffee. He stops and says, Sorry! Have a good day! John laughs and says, You too, buddy!
Un joven llamado Carlos pasa corriendo cerca de ellos, casi dejando caer su café. Se detiene y dice, ¡Perdón! ¡Que tengan un buen día! John ríe y dice, ¡Tú también, amigo!
The bus arrives and John gets on. He turns to Maria and waves goodbye. Maria waves back and says, See you later! John smiles and nods.

Maria continues walking and meets her friend Elena at the corner. They hug warmly and Elena says, It's so good to see you! Maria agrees and says, Yes, it's been too long!

They stand together for a few minutes, catching up on news. Elena mentions that she is going to visit her parents this weekend. Maria says that sounds wonderful.
