Mr. Popescu wakes up early every morning at six o'clock. He makes himself a cup of tea and sits by the window. He watches the sunrise and enjoys the quiet morning.
O Sr. Popescu acorda cedo todas as manhãs às seis horas. Ele faz uma chávena de chá para si e senta-se junto à janela. Ele observa o nascer do sol e aproveita a manhã tranquila.
After breakfast he puts on his comfortable shoes and goes for a walk in the park. The fresh air is good for his health. He meets other seniors there and they greet each other warmly.
Depois do pequeno-almoço ele calça os sapatos confortáveis e vai dar um passeio ao parque. O ar fresco faz bem à saúde dele. Ele encontra outros idosos lá e cumprimentam-se calorosamente.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays he has a chess club at the community centre. He plays against his old friend Vasile. They have been playing together for over ten years.
Às terças e quintas-feiras ele tem um clube de xadrez no centro comunitário. Ele joga contra o seu velho amigo Vasile. Eles jogam juntos há mais de dez anos.
In the afternoons he likes to read books from the local library. He enjoys history novels and newspapers. The librarian knows him well and always recommends interesting titles.

Sometimes his granddaughter comes to visit after school. She helps him use his tablet and shows him new applications. He is learning to send messages and make video calls.
Às vezes a neta vem visitá-lo depois da escola. Ela ajuda-o a usar o tablet e mostra-lhe novas aplicações. Ele está a aprender a enviar mensagens e fazer videochamadas.
On Saturdays his son and daughter-in-law come for lunch. They bring homemade food and the grandchildren run around the garden. Mr. Popescu loves these family gatherings.
Aos sábados o filho e a nora vêm almoçar. Eles trazem comida caseira e os netos correm pelo jardim. O Sr. Popescu adora estes encontros de família.
He also has a small garden where he grows tomatoes and flowers. Working in the garden keeps him active and happy. He shares his vegetables with his neighbours.
